Mission & Contact

Founded in 2017, the mission is simple: To enhance the lives of others through awareness and support. Living In The Garden of Optimism is an independent site devoted to providing advocacy, for those who are living with Chronic illnesses. As someone who lives with multiple chronic diseases, I understand the struggle firsthand. And I know how essential balance is to daily living. Optimism is the key to finding it, especially for those living with any Chronic illness.

Let me be clear, I am not a member of the medical community. My posts on this blog are based on my personal experience, or on other reference sources that do include the medical community. These references are provided with the corresponding posts, for readers to examine. I have chosen to include them, because so many blogs today are only opinion. Facts must be provided for information to be adequate and actually helpful.

Over the years, I have worn many hats — as a wife, mother, daughter, neighbor, volunteer and caregiver. Professionally, I’ve worked in business and out — in early childhood education, as a freelance writer (Christian and other genres), a patient advocate, an inspirational speaker and blogger. Through it all, I have trusted in my faith and optimism to sustain me.

If you are interested in planning a “Garden Party” (a casual speaking engagement) for your church/organization, please feel free to contact me by email. You’ll find the necessary information below.  I’d be happy to discuss ideas with you. The theme is fun and lighthearted to appeal to all, no matter their physical limitations. If you prefer a “traditional” speaking engagement, that too can be arranged. Together, we can plan an informative event that is unique to your group. We can sow the seeds of hope that so many need. We can grow the optimism that is essential to managing any Chronic illness. Dare to care!
